The wood used at Sonae Arauco comes from certified and controlled sources and is covered by chain-of-custody certification systems.
Our industrial operations are certified by the FSC® chain of custody standard (Forest Stewardship Council®) and the European operations are also certified by the PEFC chain of responsibility (Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes).
All of its industrial units are certified according to international standards in Environmental Management (ISO 14001), Quality Management (ISO 9001) and Management of Health and Safety at Work (ISO 45001), the majority of which is also certified in Energy Management (ISO 50 001).
Concerning the product portfolio, the Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) from Sonae Arauco are verified by Institut Bauen und Umwelt e.V. and provide a transparent view of its environmental impacts through a life cycle assessment, as well as its technical and functional characteristics. They are quantitative and objective assessments based on the EN15804 standard, enabling the evaluation of environmental impacts throughout a product’s life cycle . Sonae Arauco has EPDs for all product ranges under the Core & Technical®, Innovus® and AGEPAN® brands.
In addition, all Sonae Arauco solutions comply with the applicable requirements of the EU REACH Regulation (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals), which is designed to help protect human health and the environment.
