Sonae Arauco joins the European Cir4Fun project
Cir4Fun stands for advancing European industrial sustainability and competitiveness through circular design strategies, Digital Product Passports, and sustainable product-service systems in the furniture sector
Sonae Arauco is participating in Cir4Fun, a European initiative aimed at improving sustainability in the furniture sector through the implementation of the Digital Product Passport (DPP).
The DPP is a digital record that stores key information about a product's life cycle, including its materials, production process, recyclability and environmental impact. By making this information easily accessible, the DPP promotes transparency, circularity and compliance, while helping consumers and businesses make more sustainable choices.
The project aims to define key requirements and guidelines that promote eco-labelling, consumer engagement and environmental compliance. This ambitious initiative, funded by the Horizon Europe program, aims to accelerate the transition towards a more circular and sustainable furniture sector in Europe. The project will run from 1 January 2025 to 31 December 2027.
Paulo Magalhães, R&D Manager at Sonae Arauco, highlights: "The Cir4Fun project is very important to Sonae Arauco as it will help to understand and to establish the main requirements and guidelines of Digital Product Passport for the furniture sector. By leveraging innovative strategies and support mechanisms for digital solutions, the project aims to enhance furniture sustainability, eco-labelling, and consumer engagement, while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and initiatives. Sonae Arauco will be one of the end-user partners and requirements providers for the project framework. Based on this collaboration, eco-design and DPP guidelines will be achieved."
Through this collaboration, we are reinforcing our commitment to innovation and the circular economy, contributing to a more sustainable and digitally advanced furniture sector.
