About the project
Cineteatro Caracas, now called Teatro Municipal de Oliveira de Azeméis, has reopened its doors after being transformed into a more contemporary concept.
This project was designed by the Broadway Malyan architecture studio and developed by the team at Eustáquio & Faísca - Arquitetos, who chose decorative products from the Innovus Collection for their versatility and the quality of the textures.
Behind the concept that inspired the project is the moment when the curtains go up on the stage in a theatre, transporting the audience to a universe of imagination and creativity. The metallic cladding on the remodelled building, which gives it a new architectural language, is perforated by a pattern of vertical lines inspired by the curtains.
“Breathing new life into the theatre” was the slogan behind the work done by the teams. For the team at the studio of Eustáquio & Faísca – Arquitetos, the idea was to give each concert hall its own personality and unique decorative solutions that would automatically be interpreted as elements making this new space stand out.
The Grand Auditorium, as the main concert hall, was remodelled with Innovus Essence "for a more sophisticated, high quality character". In the Small Auditorium, the main highlight is the sensation of comfort the wood provides and the Multipurpose Hall, designed as a multifunctional space, whether for rehearsals and small events or even to be reserved as dressing rooms, was finished with Innovus Coloured MDF Deep Black.
For the team from the architecture studio, the texture and natural feel of the Innovus materials influenced the project concept and, at the end, "this difference is clearly felt in the sensorial perception of the space".
This project has made Teatro Municipal de Oliveira de Azeméis one of the most important cultural venues in the country, providing it with new and more comfortable conditions for the artists and for the audience.
